Just when you think you have things under control, (not perfect, but okay), He (God) goes and tops it all! Today was wonderful . It started with a job interview for an aide position working with an autistic child. My interview went wonderfully. The boy's mother was nice and kept noticing things about me that she liked. Then, she started asking about my availability and when I could start work. I start by taking all of her 4 kids swimming tommorrow.
It was amazing. This was the job I had been wanting since I started seriously looking about 3 weeks ago. I wanted to work with children and I wanted to work with special needs. I'd already been to 4 fruitless interviews for working with children/adults with disabilities and had sent out 6 similar applications this week with no response. On thursday it was coming to a week since my spring course finished and I knew I really needed a job, so I decided to branch out into less comfortable territory. I saw a job for face-to-face fundraisers and decided to call them up the next day. When I went back to check for the phone number, I found a new posting that sounded inviting. It was a very sparse ad, only saying that a "health aide" was required by a private family and to contact 2 names at the supplied phone number. I called about both positions, got 2 interviews and now it seems that I won't need tuesday's interview.
Speaking of God's hand working in this, I had also planned on applying with my resume to a gelato shop and a gourmet ice cream shop I like, but didn't get to the part of the city those 2 stores are in until this afternoon when I already had got my job. Sure enough, both stores were hiring and since cashier jobs are fairly easy to get, one of them would've probably hired me. Instead, it seems that I have the job I wanted from the beginning. I'll see how it goes at work tommorrow.
Oh, and the rest of the day went well too.
